Misdemeanor Sentencing - Kansas

The maximum penalties for a misdemeanor conviction are as follows:

*  Class A - confinement in the county jail for up to one year and a $2,500 fine;

*  Class B - confinement in the county jail for up to six months and a $1,000 fine;

*  Class C - confinement in the county jail for up to one month and a $500 fine; and

*  Unclassified misdemeanors - the sentence for which shall be in accordance with the sentence specified in the statute; if no penalty is provided in such law, the sentence shall be the same penalty as provided herein for a class C misdemeanor.
